What a lovely little card that was sent to Beryl just before Xmas in 1942 Beryl was staying in an Orphanage in Wolverhampton and attended junior School there also. We do not know the reason for this, but we do know that her Uncle and Aunt sent this lovely card to her.
The front image is of a small girl looking up at the stars as two young rabbits sit beside her. The poem on the card reads.
“When heaven lights it’s little lamps and stars shine, then to you like little jewels of love come wishes mine”
I wonder what Beryl thought when she received it. Did she see herself as the young girl looking up at the stars and making a wish for a day when she would be with her loved ones once again, or with a family that would love and care for her.
The postcard reads the following:
My Dear Beryl
We hope you are well. Uncle Fred is busy in the garden today I am just going to help him. It will soon be your Xmas Holiday. I think you are spending Xmas here. Lots of love from Aunty Nance and Uncle Fred.
We will never know if Beryl did spend Xmas with her Aunt and Uncle, but I like to think that she did and had a wonderful time with them x
