The postcard was sent to a Miss Jessie Hartley from her mother Lily
It reads;
Dear Jessie
I shall be home in good time on Sat, so if you have not had time to do the shopping I will be able to do it. You do not need to buy any meat as I am bringing a piece of ham back with me and we will make that do. We shall be leaving here about 11’o’clock. Hope Cynthia is alot better. Love your mother. P.S I have written to Annie.
On investigation Annie is Jessie’s sister and they all live in Shipley in Yorkshire.
The image On The Postcard
The image on the card is of Forest Road in Loughbrough and features the dual carriageway. It is quite bare in the middle and there are very few trees. Later on in the late 1970’s this was full of trees and flowering bushes and still is to this day in 2023.
