When Merty came to England she had to apply for citizenship as she was technically a refugee from another country. When she was in Germany her occupation was a X ray assistant, but in the UK she was a Domestic Servant. Her citizenship was denied at first but then an appeal was heard and this was granted this was on the 5th December 1939
