Whenever you went to Granny and Vera’s house, they always had lots of drinks and treats for the children.
Our parents would sit on the settee and have a cup of tea. Not in a mug, no, it was a cup and saucer, and Aunt Vera would always bring in a bit of fruit cake and a few biscuits to have with it.
Us children got treated to “Ribena” this was kept in the pantry in the kitchen and sat on a shelf just inside the door. There were chocolate bars in here that were given to you.
Aunt Vera would always talk to you. I can just hear her now saying “Hello Ann” in her broad Northern Irish Accent
